Hawaii Animal Kuleana Alliance (HAKA):
HAKA cultivates the reciprocal relationship between community and its animals by offering integrated services, cooperative networks, and disaster and emergency rescue services. HAKA formed in 2018 during the eruption of Kilauea in efforts to rescue the many animals caught in the disaster. HAKA currently is on deployment missions in Maui helping with animal search and rescue and providing spay/neuter clinics to the several community cats that have been rescued from the burn zone and surrounding areas.
Magical Creatures Sanctuary (MCS):
MCS rescues, rehabilitates and offers lifelong sanctuary to fam animals on the Big Island, while serving the Hawaiian community with programs that promote kindness, compassion and stewardship. MCS is home to over 85 animals who were saved from slaughter, rescued from neglect, have special needs, or were orphaned or injured in the wild.
Selah's Pig Sanctuary (SPS):
SPS provides a safe harbor for pigs in need and hopes to provide a space where people can have a visceral experience with these beautiful beasts, and not just a conceptual and cerebral understanding of them. SPS founder, Joanna Boese is an entomologist (studies insects), and named her sanctuary after her first orphaned piglet she rescued.
Aloha Ilio Rescue:
Aloha Ilio rescues and re-homes dogs on the Big Island in efforts to stop the overpopulation and euthanasia of homeless dogs. They strive to ensure every dog is matched up with an owner that is serious about the commitment adopting a dog entails, while at the same time ensuring that both parties are happy to become a family together.
Fern Bloom Sanctuary (FBS):
FBS was founded by Moon and Candle Metaphysical Shop's creator and is dedicated to saving the lives of animals from cruelty and neglect, while educating and inspiring the public to live a healthy and compassionate vegan lifestyle. Learn more on:
Big Island Farm Sanctuary (BIFS): non-profit status pending
BIFS is a safe haven for animals on the Big Island, providing hands-on interaction, giving people the opportunity to meet formerly farmed and hunted animals and see the beautiful and unique individual beings each of them are.
Kohala Animal Relocation and Education Service (KARES):
KARES is dedicated to rescuing and relocating abused, abandoned and stray domestic animals, providing temporary housing for them through foster care. KARES focuses on community education and promotes responsible pet ownership and to prevent animal cruelty.
Contributions are sent quarterly to each non-profit.
Please note that because these candles are made-to-order, their scent throws will not be at their strongest upon their delivery. It is best to put them aside with their lids on, in a dark space away from the sun for at least 1 week. If you should decide that waiting isn't an option and want to immediately light the candle, please acknowledge that the scent throw will grow over time as it continues to cure when the candle is not lit.
